A 24-year-old man died yesterday after he was crushed by a bull at a farm near Plain City in Union County.
William ?Logan? Krebehenne, of Richwood, was pronounced dead at 3:09 p.m. at Dublin Methodist Hospital following the incident, the sheriff?s office announced this morning.
Deputies and medics were summoned at 2:24 p.m. to Select Sires Farm, 11740 Rt. 42, on a report that a farm employee had been struck by a bull, deputies said.
Krebehenne was standing outside a pen while bulls were being cared for when the animal rammed a gate and pinned him behind it, Select Sires Inc. said in a statement. Sheriff Jamie Patton said the farm worker apparently was crushed against a pen post.
"Logan was a seasoned and skilled employee who was passionate about his job. His smile, enthusiastic spirit and tremendous work ethic will be deeply missed," Select Sires President David Thorbahn said in a statement.
Grief-counselors assisted farm employees today and worker safety training procedures will be reviewed to determine if they need improvement, Thorbahn said. The fatality was the first in the farm's nearly 50 years of operation, he said.
Krebehenne's twin brother, Kyle, also works at Select Sires Farm.
Services are pending at Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in Richwood.
